Ruhul Amin Shajib

Ruhul Amin is an Assistant Professor of Computer and Information Science at Fordham University, NY, USA. He finished his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, USA in 2019. His current research interests focus on the development of deep learning and data-driven approaches to solve interesting problems in Bioinformatics, Computational Social Science, and Information Security. His contributions in Bioinformatics spans a wide variety of topics, ranging from designing fast heuristics for aligning DNA sequences to the application of deep learning for genome-wide annotation.

As a graduate fellow in the Institute for Advanced Computational Science at Stony Brook, Ruhul launched multiple collaborative research projects both in Translational Research and Computational Social Science. He also worked as a Research Scientist Intern at the Amazon AI Algorithms group. In the past, he pursued several academic and entrepreneurial roles in Bangladesh. So far, he received more than $630,000 in grants for two projects: the first-ever countrywide search engine, “Pipilika.com” for the websites of the Bengali web domain and bilingual screen reading software, “Mongol Dip” to assist the visually impaired people to operate computers. He also led the popular SMS based admission system development at SUST. He received the Presidential Gold Medal, Prime Minister Award, and several ICT awards for his academic result, research and development work in the context of Bangladesh.
