Title : AirVent: A low cost user friendly and efficient ventilator
Description : AirVent (a voluntary research project initiated by TechGeeks Limited, a Dhaka based organization) is an effective, low cost medical ventilation system that has the capability to serve millions of people in Bangladesh in case COVID-19 becomes a pandemic. It has been observed so far that people in the age range over 60 years of age are at the highest risk and mostly develop pneumonia like symptoms which requires emergency medical ventilation. However currently Bangladesh has only 500 ICU ventilators which is quite insufficient to serve the large population. Since there is a scarce of the ventilators and the pricing is too high, it’s difficult for the Govt. to buy ventilators and serve everyone. Hence we are building a low cost ICU ventilation system that can offer emergency ICU ventilation support to everyone. Our objective is to make the device effective and making it easily operable with a one day training! Device features: After several discussions with ICU doctors in our team, we have decided to introduce the following features: 1. Making the UI/UX of the device so user friendly that a nurse with one day's training can operate it in case of emergencies. 2. Primarily building efficient solution for Assist Control and Pressure Control modes 3. Keeping option to set Respiratory Rate, Tidal volume, Pressure, Peep. The device ensures to deliver proper tidal volume to lungs within the desired time with perfect FiO2 and Positive End Expiratory Pressure (PEEP). PEEP helps to keep lungs open so that alveoli don’t get collapse. 4. Keeping option for wireless controller. We plan on using a Tab which will communicate with the device effectively. This is crucial since doctors can maintain distance and even keep an eye on the patient’s vitals from adjacent rooms. 5. A simple design easy to manufacture and reproduce. 6. Keeping couple of universal modes that can cater multiple patients at a time through brunching out of the tubes. 7. Power backup option
