: The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has already infected more than 4 millions of people and caused more than 300,000 deaths across the globe. The causative agent is a virus known as SARS-Cov-2 is a RNA virus which has already developed different variants in different regions. In order to fight the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak in Bangladesh and any future outbreaks with same virus as well as any other infectious virus or bacteria, we must have to have appropriate research facilities. The proposed laboratory development is very important because it will open the window of extensive research of virus genome analysis, vaccine design and efficacy testing in vitro as well as drug development. This laboratory will have the true Biosafety level-3 facilities with modern molecular, proteomics and cell biology research facilities with certification by WHO and CDC. We have the expertise of drug and vaccine design which we can utilise for indigenous drug and vaccine development against COVID-19 in Bangladesh.
