Description
: A wood based low-cost UV type-C light based sterilizer prototype has been developed where the object is exposed to the light from both upper and bottom parts. Efficacy of this prototype has been tested against gram positive and negative bacteria and compared with those from autoclave and commercial UV bio-cabinet. Results show that our prototype can significantly reduce the time to disinfect/kill virus compare to autoclave indicating that PPE can be disinfected quickly compared to autoclave without compromising the integrity of the PPE so that it can be re-used. In addition, the current prototype is portable and low cost.
