Title
: Convalescent plasma from recovered individuals as an investigational therapy for critically ill patients with COVID-19 in Bangladesh
Description
: Convalescent plasma therapy involves transfusing plasma from the people who have recovered from COVID-19 into people who are critically ill or at high risk. Due to lack of efficacious treatments and high mortality, the therapy is being used in many countries for treating the life-threatening Covid-19. The therapy can be applied in Bangladesh. For this, plasmapheresis will be done from ‘infected-and-recovered’ people after confirmed recovery from COVID-19. Level of antibodies against COVID-19 virus will be evaluated. The qualifying plasma will be transfused to the patients judged by the treatment provider to be at life-threatening condition. Immediate goal of the study is to determine if convalescent plasma can improve the chances of recovery with the most severe COVID-19 infection.
